HAT ETIQUETTE

Ladies hats may be worn in both the day and the evening. After dinner is the most appropriate time for a woman to remove her hat in the evening, if she is so inclined to take it off.

When attending a performance, such as the theatre or a concert, the woman holds her hat in her lap until the performance is ended; to give the people behind her an unobstructed view.
